Matt Stabler

Matt joined Greybull as its Chief Operating Officer in 2023 after serving as Greybull’s primary outside counsel for almost 4 years.  While “on the outside looking in”, he came to admire Greybull’s commitment to making small businesses successful and appreciated the constant, ongoing support it provided to its portfolio companies.  Greybull’s vision to build and create always resonated with him and made it an easy decision when he was asked to join the team.

At Greybull, Matt oversees all transactions, whether it be an acquisition, an investment, or the occasional divestiture, from start to finish while working closely with the rest of the Greybull team.  In addition, Matt leads Greybull’s compliance program as well as serving as the primary point of contact for investor relations.  Matt supports Greybull’s portfolio companies in addressing their day-to-day legal needs in addition to providing counsel for any substantive transactions they are undertaking.

Matt received his B.A. from Wofford College where he majored in Government, and he subsequently received his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law.  Before joining Greybull, Matt was a shareholder at Maynard Nexsen PC, where he was a member of their Private Markets group.  Originally from South Carolina, Matt now lives in Raleigh, North Carolina with his wife and two children.  When not attending his children’s weekend sporting events, he enjoys watching college sports and spending time doing anything outdoors.
