Greybull Managing Partner, Investment Professional, Sasha Kovriga
Managing Partner

Sasha Kovriga

When Mason shared his idea for a firm focused on investing in small businesses, Sasha became one of the first investors. A decade later, in 2019, Mason asked Sasha to join Greybull to help identify new investment opportunities and oversee Greybull’s portfolio companies.

For Sasha, joining Greybull as a partner is a culmination of more than two decades of experience as a strategy consultant, equity portfolio manager, and entrepreneur.

“I am not only bringing my analytic and organization-building skills to our businesses, but also the experience of being an entrepreneur. I can’t imagine anything more meaningful than helping our businesses write the next chapter of their story.”

Sasha immigrated to the US at age sixteen from the former Soviet Union. He studied philosophy both at undergraduate and graduate levels (Brandeis University and University of Massachusetts, Amherst) and earned his MBA from Harvard Business School in 2002. Prior to Greybull, Sasha was a partner and portfolio manager at Osterweis Capital Management for fourteen years, the co-founder of a wealth management startup, and a management consultant with Monitor Group (now Monitor Deloitte).

Sasha has been actively engaged in his community with a number of nonprofit board roles. His current nonprofit commitments include serving as a trustee of The Bothin Foundation and as a member of the Investment Committee at Castilleja School. He is also a former trustee and chair of the Investment Committee of Marin County Day School as well as the Summer Search Foundation. Sasha also had previous roles as the Treasurer of Congregation Emanu-El and a trustee for the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco.

Sasha and his wife live in the San Francisco Bay Area, where they’ve raised three daughters. He spends time listening to lowbrow German pop music, reading highbrow philosophical works, and hiking the beautiful Bay Area trails.
